What is Research & Analysis?
In Global Perspectives, you are expected to find, evaluate and use sources to support your arguments. This is a core skill for both your written exam and your coursework.
Types of Sources:
- 📰 Primary sources — original data you collect yourself (surveys, interviews, observations)
- 📚 Secondary sources — existing information from books, articles, websites, reports
Evaluating Sources — CRAAP Test:
- Currency — how recent is the source?
- Relevance — does it relate to your topic?
- Authority — who wrote it? Are they credible?
- Accuracy — is the information supported by evidence?
- Purpose — why was it written? Is it biased?
Key Skills:
- Identifying fact vs opinion
- Recognising bias and perspective
- Comparing sources from different viewpoints
- Using evidence to support arguments
Tips:
- Always use at least one source from a different country or culture
- Never rely on a single source — cross-reference your findings
